Shaw, J., and B. Greig, 2024. “Tackling Pesticide-use in Colleges and Universities’, Cambridge Climate Society, Local Conservation Panel, Queen’s College, 15 Nov, 2024.
Great discussion with students and other groups participating in Cambridge Climate Society’s Local Conservation Panel on Friday 15 Nov. For our talk we focused on our Pesticide-Free Colleges initiative, outlining student volunteering opportunities and other ways that students can help us to get Cambridge University and its constituent colleges to ditch the use of biodiversity and human health-damaging herbicides and insecticides across the green estate and in and around the built environment.
Other discussion points included:
1. Cambridge City Council’s own movement away from herbicides on land that it manages.
2. Urban pesticides and sustainability and health equality policymaking.
3. Preliminary results from our pesticides-in-colleges audit
4. Research outputs
Many thanks to Cambridge Climate Society for the invitation.
